Bacon is a miracle. Don’t believe me? Then explain how the same bacon that sweetens up your Brussels sprouts gives your ice cream a salty, savory kick. Of all the things I’ve learned after over a decade of creating BBQ recipes, one of the most important (and delicious) is this: bacon is amazing wrapped around pretty much everything.

This collection of tried-and-trusted recipes features some of my most popular bacon wrapped dishes. From appetizers and sides, to main courses, and even desserts. There’s something to love for the bacon lover in us all.

Appetizers

Let’s start with the starters. Not only are all these incredible appetizers wrapped in smoky bacon, they’re the perfect snacks for sharing.

Grilled stuffed jalapenos lined up on a serving platter.

Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Jalapeños

What’s better than a jalapeño popper wrapped in bacon? How about one wrapped in bacon, then stuffed with two different cheeses and bratwurst. Sprinkle on a little bit of my signature Sweet Rub for good measure, and you’re about 15 minutes away from the kind of bite that appetizer dreams are made of.

Raspberry Cream Cheese Jalapeño Poppers

For the ultimate appetizer, try these Raspberry Cream Cheese Jalapeño Poppers. We’re talking about fresh jalapeños, stuffed with cream cheese and sweet raspberry jam, then wrapped in slices of rich bacon. If a bite of these sweet and spicy bites don’t make you feel like a Backyard BBQ Hero, nothing will.

If you’re not feeling the stuffed vibe, that’s cool. I’ve got simple popper recipes you can make on the smoker or the grill. Don’t worry, both are still wrapped in glorious bacon.

Bacon jalapeño popper chicken bomb sliced in half on cutting board.

Bacon Wrapped Chicken Poppers

Spicy jalapeños stuffed full of creamy, melty cheese, tucked into a thick cut of tender, juicy chicken, all wrapped in layer of crispy bacon and coated with your favorite Hey Grill Hey BBQ Sauce, these bombs live up to their name. The beauty of this recipe is the bacon pairs beautifully with whichever cut of chicken you’ve got.

Bacon Wrapped Chicken Lollipop Recipe

Bacon Wrapped Chicken Lollipops

Tender, juicy chicken drumsticks wrapped in strips of bacon, all seasoned to perfection with my Sweet Rub. Oh, and they come with their own handle. What’s not to love? These chicken lollipops make the perfect game-day snack or appetizer when you want to keep your hands clean while you fill up.

Bacon wrapped meatballs on cutting board.

Jalapeño Bacon Smoked Meatballs

These aren’t your nonna’s meatballs. These perfectly-seasoned beef meatballs get studded with diced jalapeños for heat, then lovingly wrapped in bacon and smoked until the bacon is crispy and the meatballs are tender and juicy. Each bite delivers a smoky, spicy, savory punch that’ll have everyone reaching for more.

Entrees

When it’s time for the main event, don’t let bacon take a backseat. These filling and satisfying entrees prove that bacon isn’t just a garnish, it’s the star of the show.

Sliced bacon wrapped smoked pork loin drizzled with Whiskey Peach BBQ Sauce.

Grilled Bacon Wrapped Pork Tenderloin Stuffed with Apples

Sweet meets savory in this show-stopping main course. Tender pork tenderloin gets butterflied and stuffed with caramelized apples and herbs, then wrapped in bacon before hitting the grill. The bacon keeps the lean pork moist while adding that irresistible smoky flavor, and the apples provide the perfect sweet contrast.

Three bacon wrapped chicken breasts on a platter, with the middle one sliced.

Bacon Wrapped Chicken Breast

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the most delicious. Take a juicy chicken breast, wrap it in bacon, and let the grill work its magic. The bacon bastes the chicken as it cooks, keeping it incredibly moist while adding layers of smoky flavor. Season it with my Sweet Rub and you’ve got a chicken breast people will tell their friends about.

Bacon Wrapped Shrimp with Spicy Peach Glaze

These little flavor bombs combine the best of surf and turf in one perfect bite. Plump shrimp get wrapped in bacon, then glazed with a sweet and spicy peach sauce that caramelizes beautifully over heat. The bacon adds richness, the peach brings sweetness, and the spice gives it just enough kick to keep things interesting.

Sliced bacon weave wrapped meatloaf next to a bowl of BBQ sauce.

BBQ Meatloaf with a Bacon Weave

Forget everything you thought you knew about meatloaf. This version gets topped with a gorgeous bacon weave that not only looks impressive but keeps the meatloaf incredibly moist while adding rich flavor to every slice. The BBQ glaze caramelizes on top for the perfect sweet-savory finish.

Bacon wrapped brat being dipped in a small bowl of beer cheese sauce.

Bacon Wrapped Brats with Beer Cheese Sauce

Take your bratwurst game to the next level by wrapping those sausages in bacon before they hit the grill. The bacon adds extra richness and helps keep the brats juicy, while the beer cheese sauce takes this from good to absolutely over-the-top. If you’re a sausage fan, this one’s a can’t-miss.

Veggies

There are two kinds of people in this world: those who love vegetables, and those who haven’t tried vegetables wrapped in bacon yet. These recipes will help you convert the nonbelievers.

Seasoned bacon wrapped onion rings on the grill grates of a grill.

Bacon Wrapped Onion Rings

Choosing between onion rings and bacon isn’t easy, so I say: “Why choose when you can have both?” These crispy rings get wrapped in bacon before hitting the smoker, creating the ultimate side dish that’s part vegetable, part appetizer, and completely irresistible. Try them next to (or right on top of) all your favorite burgers.

Pickle wedges in a bacon wrap on the smoker.

Bacon Wrapped Pickles

I know what you’re thinking, but trust me on this one. The salty, tangy crunch of pickles wrapped in smoky bacon creates a flavor combination that’s surprisingly addictive. They’re the perfect appetizer for pickle lovers and bacon fanatics alike. Pair it with a little of my Homemade Ranch if you want a little cool to contrast the warm pickles.

Carrots in bacon on the grill.

Bacon Wrapped Maple Glazed Carrots

Even the veggie-averse will love these sweet and savory carrots. The bacon adds richness while the maple glaze caramelizes beautifully, creating a side dish that’s fancy enough for special occasions, but easy enough for any night of the week. This one is a favorite at the Hey Grill Hey house.

Grilled tomatoes on a white plate drizzled with a balsamic glaze.

Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Grilled Tomatoes

Fresh tomatoes get hollowed out and stuffed with a delicious mixture of herbs and cheese, then wrapped in bacon. It’s like a BLT and stuffed pepper had a delicious baby. The grill renders the bacon, tenderizes the tomatoes, and gets the cheese all melty and bubbly. This dish is liable to make your tomato-hating friends rethink a few things.

Bacon wrapped bacon?

Alright, so the bacon here isn’t technically wrapped around anything, but it is wrapped. Plus, this recipe is just too good not to include.

Candied Bacon Roses

Thick-cut slices of bacon dusted with brown sugar and a little of my Sweet Rub get rolled up all pretty before hitting the smoker. The resulting crispy, candied roses make the perfect gift for the BBQ lover in your life. They’re gorgeous, and you can gorge yourself on them. What’s not to love?

Dessert

If you thought dessert was safe from the savory embrace of bacon, think again. The salty-sweet notes of bacon make it the perfect contrast for all kinds of desserts.

Bacon wrapped oreos on the grill grates of a smoker.

Smoked Bacon Wrapped Oreos

When you’re looking for something sweet to cap off your feast, but want to keep the BBQ spirit alive, these smoked Oreos are the ticket. The cookies soften slightly and soak in the yummy bacon grease, the rub caramelizes the bacon, and your taste buds go on a wildly sweet and savory ride. I recommend making a small batch, unless you want to feel guilty later.
