Hey Grill Hey Fish & Veggie Rub
For bites that taste both familiarly comforting and uniquely exotic, hit it with a little bit of my Fish & Veggie Rub. I’m telling you, I don’t make a lot of mistakes, but naming this product might be one of them. Yes, it’s amazing on fish and veggies, but it’s so much more than that.
Is there a seasoning that brings out the naturally rich notes of veggies and fish? What rub enhances the flavor of bland proteins while adding a nice texture on the exterior? How can I add some serious flavor to my dips without overpowering them?
Many questions, but they all have the same answer: Hey Grill Hey Fish & Veggie Rub. Let me tell you a little about what’s inside this savory seasoning, and a whole lot about how you can use it to be a backyard BBQ hero.
Flavor Profile: What’s Inside
My Fish & Veggie Rub actually started out as a recipe for your library, which means it’s made with only quality ingredients. This bold, zesty seasoning became so popular I had to add it to my line of BBQ rubs and sauces. When it says Hey Grill Hey on the label, you can feel confident in your choice. I only use high-quality, time-tested ingredients.
This Fish & Veggie Rub contains only my personally approved ingredients. This includes sea salt, dehydrated garlic and onion, a blend of spices, celery seed, mustard seed, and both dill weed and dill seed. This combination results in a rub so tangy and fresh, with notes of dill and a kick of red pepper. There’s no MSG in any of my products. This is just pure, delicious seasonings to bring the best out of your grilled and smoked seafood and vegetable dishes.
The Perfect Seasoning for Veggies & Fish
Originally, I created this blend to help you give extra layers of bold flavor to your grilled veggies. And while it does a truly amazing job at that, I found it also adds incredibly zesty flavor to seafood. It can really be used to give a cool kick to just about anything, and I’ll cover some creative options in a bit. For now, here are some of my tested and trusted recipes that include this versatile seasoning:

How to Use Fish & Veggie Rub
When a recipe already calls for a seasoning for vegetables or fish, then you’re good to go. Just use this rub right in place of it. However, if you want to apply this to recipes or entrees which don’t call for it, I’ve got you covered. You can apply this veggie and fish shake to most proteins or vegetables by first coating them with olive oil. You can also use avocado oil or your favorite cooking oil. After a quick toss in the Rub, you’re good to smoke or grill with your favorite method.
Pairing Suggestions
First, you can feel confident using this Fish & Veggie Rub alongside (or in place of) most the rubs and seasonings available to you. You can add some zesty ranch flavor to anything using my Chicken Rub. Using it in recipes with my Sweet Rub gives a rich boost to the sweet finish. Feel free to get creative, and add this blend to anything in need of a flavor uptick.
Now, if you want to really see what this stuff can do, then check out my recipe for Grilled Chicken Pasta Salad. I’ve got a recipe within the recipe for a BBQ Ranch. It blends this tasty rub with the sweetness of my Everything BBQ Sauce. Listen to me when I tell you, this sauce will change your life. I should call it Holy Smoke Sauce. You can probably substitute the sauce with any of my sauces for an equally amazing result.
Unexpected Ways to Use Fish & Veggie Rub
It’s great for a lot more than the name suggests. Yes, it’s going to boost the flavor of all your grilled veggies and fish. However, it’s great for a lot more. You can use 3-4 Tablespoons of this rub in place of a ranch packet to make dressings and dips. I love sprinkling it on as a popcorn seasoning. I also have several recipes that give you crazy flavor you wouldn’t expect from this rub:

I clicked on the request for the Fish & Veggie Rub recipe and sure enough I received an email titled “Saved Recipe: Hey Grill Hey Fish and Veggie Rub.” The email started, “As promised, here is your saved recipe” followed by a link. I clicked on the link opened up a really good sales pitch as to what the rub is, how to use it, what it can be used on, etc. All good information, just about identical to the sales pitch I had already read earlier. The only problem–there was NO RECIPE!
I may old fashioned and out of date, but when you promise to send a recipe you should send a recipe. More and more I am getting disappointed in Hey Grill Hey.
