Smoked Spinach Artichoke Dip

A creamy and cheesy dip laced with marinated artichokes, spinach, and loads of fresh garlic, this recipe works beautifully as an appetizer, tailgate snack, potluck dish, or eaten out of the fridge late at night with a spoon. There’s no judgment here. There are two kinds of vegetables in there, after all. It’s basically a salad.

And while I know you can easily buy pre-made spinach artichoke dip from the store, believe me when I say it pales in comparison to this homemade smoked dip. Your guests will notice the major upgrade too, I guarantee it.

How to Smoke Spinach Artichoke Dip

This dip is super easy to make and is well worth the 90-minute total cooking time. Plan ahead and toss this on the smoker a few hours before game day for a delicious appetizer that will be gone in no time flat. Here’s how to smoke spinach artichoke dip.

  1. Preheat. Fire up the smoker and get the heat running steady at 275 degrees F with your favorite hardwood.
  2. Make the dip. Combine all ingredients for the spinach artichoke dip in a large mixing bowl and stir well to combine.
  3. Smoke. Pour the dip into a baking dish and place it on the smoker. Close the lid, and smoke for around 90 minutes. The dip is ready to go when the top of the dip is hot throughout and the cheese has melted and taken on some light brown color from the smoke.
  4. Enjoy. Remove the dip from the smoker and serve immediately while it is still hot with chips, crackers, baguettes, or even an assortment of veggies.

How Long to Smoke Spinach Artichoke Dip

It takes around 90 minutes to smoke spinach artichoke dip with the smoker running at 275 degrees F. This time may vary slightly depending on the size of your baking dish and the consistency of the heat in the smoker.

Bottom line – you’ll be able to tell when the dip is ready to go. You want to remove it from the heat when the cheese is melted and is a light brown color.

Tips for Smoking Spinach Artichoke Dip

Let’s go over a few quick tips for smoking spinach artichoke dip to help you make the best dip around.

  • Use extra garlic. The recipe calls for 2 cloves because some people like their garlic flavor mild. If you are like me and enjoy feeling happiness in your life, use more like 4-6 cloves of garlic. It makes a huge difference in the final flavor and I think it’s totally worth it.
  • Enjoy leftovers! Have any leftover dip? You can reheat it in a low-temperature oven until just melty OR you can use it to stuff chicken breasts like I do in this Spinach Artichoke Stuffed Chicken.
  • Prep in advance. One of my favorite things about this dip is that I can whip all the ingredients together the night before and then just pop it on the smoker before people show up. With no more work than just starting the grill, I’ve got a fancy appetizer that basically everybody loves.

This is great and easy. Only thing I would do differently is to add something next time to make it a little thinner. It’s a pretty thick and dense dip.

This is by far the best spinach dip I have ever had!! It was super easy to make and took no time at all to prep. Made it ahead of time do it was ready to go when our brisket came off the smoker. Was a big hit with everyone!! Will definitely be making this again and again. Will be making the stuffed chicken with it as well but will add a couple pieces of asparagus in with the dip.
