Air Fryer Steak with Potatoes and Green Beans

Tender, juicy, flavorful ribeye steak… in an air fryer? I know, I was as surprised as you’ll be, but this recipe is absolutely amazing. I’m talking a thick ribeye steak, sprinkled with some of my Beef Rub, and then cooked to perfection from top to bottom. Not only do they cook all the way through exactly how you want, but there’s almost no work involved on your part. Just season, place, and forget.

To take this recipe over the top, I added in some hearty veggies. Yukon gold potatoes and tasty green beans, both which cook right along side your steak. Just promise me you won’t forget your grill and smoker when you see how incredible steak air fryer style can be. Let’s get frying.

Seasoning for Steak

When I want to bring the natural savory flavor of steak out, I always reach for some of my signature Beef Rub. An even, generous sprinkle of this incredible rub and you’re ready to turn out delicious steak with layers of flavor. You can also use equal parts Kosher salt and black pepper. You can add some garlic powder and onion powder, or use whatever steak seasoning you love. Personally, I love a simple seasoning with this easy recipe.

Air Frying Veggies

My favorite part about air frying steak is how simple it is to cook vegetables right along side it. For this recipe, I went with the classic combo of steak and potatoes, and added some green beans to balance everything out. You can customize with whatever veggies you love. Just drizzle with some olive oil and add a sprinkle of my Veggie Rub (recipe here).

Veggie Timing Tip

  • If you’re using starchy vegetables like potatoes, or carrots that take longer to cook, add those while preheating your air fryer. If you’re adding something lighter like broccoli, wait to add it until you flip your steak.

How Long to Air Fry Steak

When it comes to how long to cook steak in an air fryer, it’s pretty similar to how long you grill steaks. You’ll preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F, then place your steak in the air fryer for 3-4 minutes. Flip your steak, then give it 3-4 more minutes. With a 5-10 minute resting period after frying, your steak should be ready to slice and enjoy.

Remember when cooking steak, temperature is just as important as time. Refer to the temperature doneness guide below for finishing. Be sure to use a reliable meat thermometer, like my Thermoworks instant-read thermometer.

  • Rare: 125 degrees F
  • Medium Rare: 135 degrees F
  • Medium: 145 degrees F
  • Medium Well: 155 degrees F
  • Well Done: 160 degrees F

How to Cook Steak in an Air Fryer

Once you’ve picked out the perfect ribeye and gathered your veggies and seasonings, you’re ready to make amazing steak in the air fryer. Follow these steps and you’ll be enjoying tender steak in no time:

  1. Preheat air fryer. Drizzle your potatoes with olive oil and then toss in some of my Veggie Rub, or your favorite seasoning. Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F, and add your potatoes to the fryer basket.
  2. Cook steak. Season your ribeye steak with some of my signature Beef Rub, or your preferred seasoning. Then, place in your fryer basket with the potatoes. You want to give your steak 3-4 minutes to cook, allowing the seasoning to bring out the natural beefy flavor, and add some savory notes.
  3. Add green beans. When it’s time to flip your steak, you want to add your green beans. Cut the tips off your beans, then drizzle them with olive oil and toss in my Veggie Rub, just as you did the potatoes. Place the green beans, flip your steak, and cook for 3-4 more minutes.
  4. Rest, slice, and serve. The best part about this air fryer steak is you get a full meal that all finishes at the same time. Remove your steak to a cutting board to rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing, then serve with some potatoes and green beans.
