These bacon wrapped maple glazed carrots were born to be the star of your family dinner table. They’re sweet, and savory, and have just the right amount of crispiness to make every bite better than the last.
Bacon Wrapped Carrots
There is truly nothing in the world that isn’t better with a little bacon wrap. Now, I’ve wrapped a lot of things in bacon (scroll below to see just a few links to these bacon wrapped recipes). I guess you could say I’m a bit of a bacon connoisseur. This hopefully gives me a little credibility when I tell you that you HAVE to try these carrots. They are the best of the best and have an incredible flavor.
These maple glazed carrots are easy to make yet extremely delicious. You simply wrap a carrot in bacon, drizzle it with maple syrup, salt, and pepper, and cook it on the grill. Simple, and oh-so flavorful!
Grilled Bacon Wrapped Carrots
These bad boys are cooked on the grill, helping the carrot to cook to just the right doneness. I like to cook these on my pellet smoker, but you can cook them on a gas grill, or even in your oven. The bacon on the outside gets caramelized right at the end with a sticky sweet maple glaze, and the carrots on the inside are absolutely the pinnacle of tender perfection.
Aside from tasting amazing, these bacon wrapped carrots are beyond simple with only 3 real ingredients. I like to wrap all of the carrots in bacon either the night before or earlier in the day then cover and refrigerate for an additional time saver.
If I’m adding these carrots to a holiday dinner (these guys are incredible with Thanksgiving), I find them easily cooked right before dinner is served. After I finish cooking my big turkey and pull it off the grill to rest for 30 minutes, I turn up the temperature a bit on my smoker or oven and get these carrots cooking. They will be ready to plate up and serve right as the turkey is ready to carve.
Ingredients for Maple Glazed Carrots
Not only do these carrots taste amazing, they only require you to pull 5 things out of your fridge and pantry. I like to consider them the perfect side when you don’t have a lot of food in your fridge.
Here are the 5 ingredients you’ll need for these bacon wrapped carrots (exact amounts are available in the recipe card below).
- 3 pounds whole carrots
- 1 1/2 pounds of bacon
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- salt and pepper
Tips for Making Bacon Wrapped Maple Glazed Carrots
Before you stick these guys on the grill, here are a few tips to keep in mind when making them to ensure they come off the grill cooked to perfection.
- Wrap tightly. Don’t just slap the bacon on the carrots. Take time to neatly wrap them and tuck them in on the ends to make sure the bacon won’t come off mid-cook.
- Use 100% pure maple syrup. I highly recommend using 100% pure maple syrup for these carrots. It will make all the difference in the way they cook and taste. And while the real stuff does tend to cost a bit more, a little goes a long way.
- Watch out for grease fires! This goes hand-in-hand with wrapping your bacon tightly. If you have any bacon hanging down or lots of pieces falling off, you’re setting yourself up for some sad carrots. Keep an eye on them and check them periodically to ensure all is well on your grill.

Ingredients
- 3 pounds whole carrots
- 1 ½ pounds bacon
- ½ cup maple syrup
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat. Preheat your indirect grill or smoker to 400 degrees F. These carrots can also be cooked in an oven, if desired.
- Wrap and season. Thoroughly scrub and peel each carrot. Wrap each carrot in a piece of bacon, overlapping the ends so they are secured. Sprinkle each carrot with salt and pepper.
- Grill. Place the wrapped carrots on the grill grates (or on a baking sheet, if using the oven). Close the lid and cook for 25-30 minutes or until the bacon is golden and crisp.
- Brush with syrup. During the last 5 minutes of grilling, brush the carrots with the maple syrup. Grill until the syrup starts to bubble, remove from the grill, and serve.
- Enjoy. Remove the carrots from the grill and serve immediately. These are best when still warm.

I use to buy Apple flavered bacon in arkansathat would realy work.
Do the carrots need to be turned occasionally while grilling?
You can definitely give them a few turns, just be careful with the bacon.
fabbulouse TRY WITHOUT SALT AND SYRUP FOR DIABETICS
As a diabetic, I wonder what the nutritional value is? Diabetics and cholesterol watchers need to know. 🙂 Thank you.
Sorry, I don’t have those available. You can put the ingredients into My Fitness Pal or another app and it will calculate them for you.
Try turkey bacon wrapped and diabetic syrup
Use sugar free maple syrup.
1 medium sized carrot(6oz) has 16 carbs. Bacon is free & use sugar free syrup( if it just brushing it on it is under five carbs ). Not bad for a delicious side! Hope that helps
OMG I cant wait to try this, look great.
Can this be done in the oven instead of the grill?
These can be done in the oven, just follow the same time and temperature instructions as the written recipe.
What setting should the oven be set at?
You can just follow the recipe temperature and set the oven to 400 F. I would cook these on on rack placed on a cookie sheet.
do you have any suggestions what main meal to go with this. want to try it today, looks so yummy
This marinated flamk steak is delicious with those carrots! https://heygrillhey.com/grilled-flank-steak-marinade/
Thank you for this information. I don’t have a grill and was going to ask about the oven.so happy now. ❤️
Yes. It says that it can be done in an oven. It says that it can.
They look great can’t wait to try them.
I wonder if honey would work instead of the syrup for a gluten free dish?
I say absolutely give it a try!!
Try adding maple flavoring to the honey to keep that maple flavor.
If you’re using REAL maple syrup, as opposed to “maple-flavored pancake syrup”, there is no gluten in it.
Pure maple syrup is gluten free.
Thanks for the info…I didn’t know that.
There is no gluten in maple syrup!
would maple syruo have gluten? there is no grain in it…
Use Pure maple syrup and there won’t be any gluten.
that sounds great
Made the bacon wrapped carrots on Sunday. AWESOME! Everyone loved them. What was even better was substituting parsnips. Bacon wrapped parsnips were INCREDIBLE.
Thanks again for the great recipes and inspiration.
