5 Lemon Pepper Rub Recipes
If you’ve been following along recently, you probably already know how excited I am about my Hey Grill Hey Lemon Pepper Rub. It started as a limited-edition bundle with our friends at ThermoWorks, and many of you even made your own version from my homemade recipe (more on that later). But now that you can grab a bottle straight from the Hey Grill Hey Store, I thought it was time to show you some of my favorite ways to use it.
This rub is everything I love about lemon pepper: bright, zesty citrus and bold cracked black pepper, balanced with just the right amount of salt and savory spice. It’s insanely versatile too. Whether you’re grilling chicken, seafood, or veggies, this rub brings fierce, fresh flavor.
1. Grilled Chicken Breasts
Juicy, smoky, and full of bright flavor, these Grilled Chicken Breasts are a go-to for weeknights. The mix of lemon zest and coarse black pepper adds that perfect tangy kick, while the grill locks in all the moisture. It may be a simple meal, but it never disappoints.
Serve it with pasta, rice, in salads, or my Garlic Parmesan Grilled Broccoli for a balanced, family-friendly dinner that’s as easy as it is delicious.

2. Grilled Spatchcock Chicken
Perfectly grilled chicken with crisp skin and juicy meat, this Grilled Spatchcock Chicken hits all the right notes. By flattening the bird using the spatchcock method, it cooks more evenly, giving you tender meat and crispy, golden skin in less time than roasting.
The bright, citrusy punch from the rub pairs beautifully with the smoky char. The result is a flavor-packed chicken perfect for feeding a hungry crowd.

3. Grilled Chicken Wings
These Grilled Chicken Wings aren’t your typical sticky wings, but instead a fresh take on chicken wings that’s both fresh and exciting. These bright, zesty wings make a favorite party or tailgate appetizer, while also serving as a great option for dinner.
Your family and friends will love these tangy grilled wings with a beautiful balance of fresh lemon and cracked black pepper when served with some Homemade Ranch Dip.

4. Grilled Catfish
This Grilled Catfish is a classic in terms of flavor, but making it on a cedar plank adds a smoky element that turns it up a major notch. Catfish is an excellent fish to cook on the grill. It’s a sweet and rather mild fish that absorbs the Lemon Pepper love easily.
Whether you have some fresh-caught catfish waiting in the freezer, or you’re looking to branch out and try something new, this recipe is a perfect place to start.

5. Lemon Pepper Rub
Remember earlier when I mentioned the homemade version of Lemon Pepper Rub? This is it. That’s right! If the rest of these recipes got you salivating so bad you can’t wait for your bottle to arrive, you can make your own at home with just 5 common ingredients.
Is it a good business decision to offer the recipe for a rub I’m selling? Probably not. But once you start grilling with this rub, you’ll likely be ordering it in bulk, anyway.
