Spicy Sweet Rub Recipes

This collection of recipes takes some ideas from one of my cornerstone must-have BBQ rubs and brings the heat with its spicy sibling. It combines the sweet and savory flavors of my Sweet Rub and takes things to a whole new level with cayenne, along with chipotle and ancho chiles, for people who like a little more fire in their BBQ. If you’re ready for a whole new take on some of my favorite recipes, let’s get started!

BBQ Chicken Thighs

Glazed and grilled poultry on a black serving platter.

Ever have those nights when you’re feeling too tired to make a complicated dinner, but too lazy to get in the car for takeout? Enter these easy BBQ chicken thighs!

These sweet and saucy guys have the perfect amount of caramelization, and char up oh-so beautifully on the grill. This cooking method yields tender, juicy meat and crispy skin with a perfect smoky flavor. They’re everything you’d ever want in a tasty BBQ chicken thigh with only 3 ingredients!

Teriyaki Turkey Jerky

Turkey jerky wrapped in butcher paper on a black platter.

Teriyaki turkey jerky is the ultimate BBQ snack. It’s fairly easy to make and even easier to consume, so fire up the smoker or dehydrator and let’s make some delicious homemade turkey jerky!

This turkey jerky has everything you love in jerky with a classic teriyaki flavor. It’s sweet and savory with the perfect tenderness. Also, turkey jerky is a good source of protein and makes for a healthier snack during your day.

Smoked Pulled Pork

My Simple Smoked Pulled Pork Butt (AKA Smoked Pork Shoulder) is a go-to any time I am looking to feed a hungry crowd and don’t want too much fuss. With only 3 ingredients, you’re looking at some good, classic BBQ with plenty of flavor.

This process for smoked pulled pork is a delicious way to cook pork butt. It’s a relatively easy process that requires a bit of time, some simple ingredients, and a trusty smoker.

321 Ribs

321 style ribs sliced and stacked on cutting board.

Smoking ribs using the 321 method is one of the most popular ways for a backyard enthusiast to cook ribs. They result in a truly delectable, fall-off-the-bone rib. While many “BBQ purists” will balk at the 321 method, there’s no denying that this meat is juicy, tender, and delicious. So, if you or your guests like meat that comes clean off the bone with every bite, definitely give the 321 rib method a try!

Sticky, sweet, tender, and oh-so-savory, 321 ribs are probably the most requested meal I receive for potlucks or family dinners. I tend to fall back on these ribs for gatherings because I know that they will deliver that tender, flavorful porky flavor every time. And sometimes consistency is super important!

Popcorn Seasoning 5 Ways

Popcorn in a red and white container spilling onto a black table with a variety of seasoning options displayed in little white bowls.

Skip the plain butter and salt, because it’s time to bring that gourmet, artisan popcorn experience to your backyard. Whether you’re settling in for movie night or looking for the perfect handmade gift, these five (that’s right, five!) versatile seasonings will turn ordinary popcorn into a gourmet snacking experience. From savory BBQ to aromatic rosemary black pepper, each blend is quick to make and brings its own unique flavor profile to your favorite snack. Choose your favorite, and let’s make some gourmet popcorn at home.
