Make the sauce. Combine all the ingredients for your sauce in a small pot over medium heat. Mix together until combined, then reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes.
1 cup ketchup, ½ cup brown sugar, ¼ cup apple cider vinegar, 2 Tablespoons honey, 1 Tablespoon cayenne pepper, 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, ½ teaspoon black pepper
Cool and blend the sauce. Remove sauce from heat and allow to cool. Carefully pour sauce into a blender and puree until smooth.
Rest, use, and store. Transfer your sauce to a lidded jar and chill in the refrigerator overnight for the best results. Your sauce will last 2 weeks in the fridge when stored properly in an airtight container.
