- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1 12-ounce can cola
- 8 Tablespoons salted butter
- 1 20-ounce can cherry pie filling
Preheat the grill. Set your grill or smoker to 375 degrees F. You can also cook this in your campfire using hot coals, or in your oven if you’re at home.
Add the fruit. In the bottom of a well-seasoned cast-iron skillet or Dutch oven, pour in your can of cherry pie filling.

Make the cake layer. In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the cake mix and soda until just barely combined. Fold in the cubed butter and pour the mixture over the cherries, covering them completely.

Cook the cobbler. Place the skillet on the grill or the Dutch oven in the coals with a lid on and bake the cobbler for 30-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Serve and enjoy! Remove the cobbler from the heat. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
