Stuffed Hot Dogs

Ingredients

  • 8 hot dog buns
  • 8 all-beef hot dogs
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • ½ cup pepper jack cheese shredded
  • 1 Tablespoon Signature Sweet Rub

Instructions

  • Preheat the grill. Preheat your grill of choice to Medium heat (around 300-350 degrees F). Prepare the hot dogs while your grill heats.
  • Slice the hot dogs. Using a sharp knife, slice the hot dogs lengthwise, ensuring not to cut all the way through the hot dog, to create a pocket in the hot dogs.
  • Mix the cheese. In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, shredded pepper jack cheese, and sweet rub (this can be purchased from Patio Provisions or made from the recipe here on this site).
  • Stuff the hot dogs. Using a small spoon, spread an even amount of the cheese and sweet rub mixture into the slit of each hot dog.
  • Wrap the stuffed hot dog. Wrap each stuffed hot dog with one slice of bacon, tucking the ends of the bacon or securing with a toothpick (just make sure to remove these before eating!)
  • Grill the dogs. Place the bacon wrapped stuffed hot dogs directly on the grill grates. Close the lid and cook for 5-10 minutes, rotating every 2 minutes, until the bacon is fully cooked. Place the buns slit side down on the grill grates for the last few minutes until they are lightly toasted.
  • Remove from heat and serve. Remove the hot dogs and buns from the grill. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
