Hawaiian Teriyaki Burger

This Hawaiian Teriyaki Burger is a sweet, savory taste of the islands that is both flavorful and filling. Take a grilled burger and top it high with grilled pineapple, ham, and homemade teriyaki BBQ sauce, and you've got a juicy, delicious burger perfect for a summer BBQ!

  • Preheat grill to medium-high heat for two-zone cooking.
  • Follow instructions for making the Teriyaki BBQ Sauce and set aside.
  • Form ground beef into 1/3 pound patties (I prefer 80/20 ground chuck or ground round beef), and season on all sides with Hey Grill Hey Signature Beef Rub or salt and pepper.
  • Place your burgers on direct heat and grill for 5-7 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the burgers and your preferred doneness.
  • Follow the instructions to make the Grilled Pineapple with Brown Sugar and Sea Salt. Add the pineapple to the grill when you flip your burgers. Grill 4-8 minutes per side or until you have nice char marks from the grates and the pineapple is heated through.
  • Add a slice of Havarti cheese and a dollop of Teriyaki BBQ Sauce to the patties when the internal temperature of the burgers reaches 155 degrees F.
  • Add the ham to the grill and grill for 1-2 minutes.
  • Once all your meat and pineapple are cooked to your desired doneness, assemble your burgers. (The FDA recommends cooking your burgers to 165 degrees F). Here's how I like to stack my burgers: Begin with bottom bun, then add lettuce, burger patty, ham, pineapple, red onion, candied jalapenos (optional), and an extra drizzle of Teriyaki BBQ Sauce, and finish with the top bun.
