Ingredients

  • 4 hearty hamburger buns
  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20 preferred
  • 1 cup mac and cheese
  • ½ cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • salt and cracked black pepper to taste
  • 1 Tablespoon Beef Seasoning or 1 teaspoon each of the following: salt, pepper, and garlic powder
  • 2 Tablespoon butter
  • assorted burger toppings lettuce, onions, pickles, tomatoes, ketchup, mustard, mayo, etc.

Instructions

  • Preheat the grill. Close the lid and turn the temperature setting to Medium-High (between 400 and 450 degrees F). Allow the grill to preheat for 10-15 minutes while you prepare your burgers.
  • Make the burger patties. Separate the pound of ground beef into quarters, then each quarter into halves so you have 8 equal portions of meat. Press four of the portions into small bases and the other four into flat patties.
  • Stuff with mac and cheese. Fill each of the four bases with ¼ cup mac & cheese. Top with ⅛ cup of the extra shredded cheddar and season with salt and pepper.
  • Form the patties. Gently lay the flat patties on top of the bacon mac & cheese filled bases and press the edges together to form a tightly sealed burger. Try not to leave any holes, or the cheese will leak out and make a huge mess! Season liberally with Beef Seasoning or equal parts salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Grill the mac and cheese burgers. Carefully transfer the patties to the hot grill and cook for 10 minutes. Flip gently and cook for an additional 10 minutes or until an internal thermometer reads 175 degrees F.
  • Toast the buns. While the burgers are cooking, butter your hamburger buns. Place them alongside the grill for the last minute with your burgers. Watch them carefully so they toast without burning!
  • Assemble the mac and cheese burgers. Remove the mac and cheese burgers and toasted buns to a clean serving dish. Assemble the burgers with your desired toppings and enjoy!
